U10 & U12

U10 & U12

  • 5 vs. 5 Recreation League
  • Ages 8-9 years & ages 10-12 years

These co-ed leagues are tailored for players to enjoy the game. Whether you’re a newcomer or a long-standing member of the R.D.M.F family, participants will learn essential skills in passing and catching while gaining insights into rules and position development. This is a fantastic opportunity for players to understand the basics of the game and develop the techniques needed to excel both offensively and defensively. Sportsmanship, safe play, and respect for the game are actively promoted and demonstrated on the field and along the sidelines.

On the field, there will be one offensive coach calling plays, while a player will take on the role of quarterback, ensuring they stay clear of potential turnovers. Defensive coaches will remain on the sidelines once plays begin. Depending on the number of registrants, teams may be organized by age or combined.

U10 and U12 are our largest participant division groups, featuring both male and female athletes. Many players use flag football to gain experience and confidence for tackle football in the fall, maintaining comradery with tackle teammates and coaches and honing fundamental skills in a non-contact setting. The schedule for practices and games ensures that all participants receive comprehensive instruction and develop a solid understanding of the sport. Although it’s a recreational league, the teams foster a competitive spirit. Players are encouraged to select a division that aligns with their skill level and size rather than strictly their age, allowing younger players to advance to higher divisions when appropriate. Coaches will evaluate skill levels and make any necessary adjustments to division groups and teams based on their observations during the first week of the season. Please note: Consent from both parents and players will be obtained before any advancement to ensure that everyone is comfortable with the proposed changes.

The leagues have a maximum capacity of 48 players, with 12 players assigned to each team.

Disclaimer: The duration of the season, along with dates and times, may vary. The final schedules will be established and confirmed once registration concludes. Division groups, league sizes, and teams will depend on the number of registrations received. Game and practice ratios will be determined at the discretion of the head coach.
