It's all about Football, Fun & Fair Play!
The Atom tackle football league is designed for athletes that are 8-10 years old. Both boys and girls can participate. Any player turning 11 years old in this calendar year must play Pee Wee. (This is regulated by Football Alberta and is mandated.)
The Atom league is a full contact, tackle football league. RDMF provides all the football protective equipment that is required. Each player must provide their own athletic footwear (cleats).
Atom football is designed to be a non-competitive, fair play league that focuses on developing a players overall understanding of the rules of football, player skill development, team play and sportsmanship. Our hope is that young athletes will develop a love for the game of football as RDMF provides a fun, safe and encouraging atmosphere for all participants.
Team practices are normally scheduled twice a week between Monday-Thursday evenings (Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday), scheduled based on coaches availability and practice dates are set after equipment pickup date. Atom games run each Saturday morning. An email will be sent out to parents for equipment fitting the 3rd-4th week of August.
The game format is a jamboree style structure where teams play a 9 on 9 player modified game against one team, break for a short half time and then play a second team in another modified game.
The Saturday games are full of fun...So grab your lawn chair, wear your team colours and come out to cheer on your team every Saturday morning. It's a great way to spend a few hours!
